Ross McKelvey wins FIAP Gold

‘Can’t believe it!   Just got word this morning that I won the Women in Society Section and got a FIAP Gold Medal for an image entitled Starry Starry Night,‘  smiles Ross.  As you can tell, Mr McKelvey is more than a little happy with his achievement, and rightly so since Ross has been entering FIAP exhibitions for less than a year.

Starry Starry Night by Ross McKelvey

As well as an active DAPA member, this Practising Barrister-at-Law (specialising in civil litigation), Chairs the Belfast Photo Imaging Club (BPIC), currently the Top Club in Northern Ireland Photographic Association and affiliated to PAGB.

‘In September 2011 I got the ARPS for a panel of 15 beauty headshots; and in November 2011 got the DPAGB at Llanberis in North Wales,’ Ross tells me.  In the current Northern Ireland Photographic Association Annual Exhibition (NIPA members only) Ross was awarded Gold and Silver PAGB Medals in Mono, and a Silver Medal in Colour.  The exhibition was judged by Rod Wheelans of PAGB.

‘I achieved MY first FIAP acceptance in March in The Bristol Salon – to test the water,’  Ross continues,  ‘I then entered Strakonice in Czech Republic and recieved an Honorable Mention. Since then, I have achieved 32 Acceptances in a total of 6 Salons, in 5 different Countries, with a total of 11 different images.’

Well done Ross, all at DAPA wish you continued success.
