Roger Evans and Alan Ranger entered this circuit and both achieved an amazing  100% conversion rate.  Roger scored the full 32 points with 8 images, and Alan scored the full 20 points, with 5 images.  Well done boys!

For those that haven’t entered a circuit, let me explain what happens…  a set of images are entered and judged a number of times, at a number of different salons.  So in this exhibition all images entered were viewed and scored at Linz, Graz, Feldkirch and Wien in Austria – if an author entered 4 images, then they had a possible score of 16 for those for images, with 8 a possible score of  32… and so on.

Dapa Group members were out in force for this exhibition, and we’re proud to announce a fantastic conversion rate with 44 acceptances and 8 awards.  Member Ross McKelvey was our star of the show winning The Mike Edwards Medal for Out of the blue (PDI), another for  Stephen (PDI), a Highly Commended for Rough Justice (print), The John Cartlidge Medal for The Boxer (print), The Mike Edwards Medal for Seanna (print) and a Commended for Johnny Fee (print). Roger Evans was awarded a Commended for Silver Studded Blues Mating.  Harry Wentworth was awarded a Commended for Harvest of the skies.

Entering a BPE panel exhibition was a first for many DAPA members.  Why?  Simply the amount of work that goes into producing each panel i.e. three cohesive images that work well together, to earn a single BPE point.  That aside, six members entered four panels each - 24 entries in total.  From just 20 entries we managed 12 acceptances and four awards.  Roger Evans was awarded the Anne Sutcliffe Ribbon for Down and Dirty.  Paul Ashton was awarded the David Venables Ribbon for Arctic Terns and a Commended for Kingfishers.  Harry Wentworth was awarded a Commended for Mad Hatters.

A tough nut to crack!

Rushden results provided a real roller-coaster ride of emotions for DAPA members with some doing well and other failing to score.  That said as a group we still managed 29 acceptances with 4 awards.

Anne Adams was awarded the Paul Keene Ribbon scoring the full 15 marks for Pair of Bearded Tits.

Titania .. BPE Ribbon

Angela Adams recieved a BPE Ribbon for Titania  and a Highly Commended for Pride without prejudice.

Roger Evans was also awarded a Highly Commended for The Boss and the E Street Band

The results have since been announced and the PAGB were awarded 2nd place, winning a gold medal.  Ireland were awarded 1st place and Spain 3rd.

A brand new salon on the circuit…  welcome Basingstoke CC, and many thanks for the great online entry facility.  DAPA members were out in force for this one and were honoured to receive a host of awards.  Well done to Harry Wentworth, Harvest of the skies did it again with a Highy Commended.   John Powell was our star of the show for this outing with: PAGB Bronze Medal for There’s no going back,  two Highly Commendeds for Ooh! That was tough and A Sign of Life, plus a Commended for Mud, Sweat and Glee.

Harry has long been a fan of  creating masterful montages.  Here at DAPA we’ve watched him develop from a tentative newby in this field, to achieving International award status in less than 18 months.  This just goes to show, if you’re prepared to put in the hard work and are diligent success usually follows.  The stats… Harry has sent the image to four competitions to date and has already bagged three awards: PAGB Medal at VECC Accepted at Southport, FIAP Gold Medal at Southampton International and an  Hon. Mention at Tropical USA International.  Well done Harry, we’re sure that this image will continue to do well for you.

This year saw an unrivalled amount of digital entries to the exhibition - 4280 entered and 884 were accepted (around 20%).  So for anyone who’s feeling a little bruised by not recieving a larger number of acceptances, just think… only 1 in 5 images were accepted – so well done!  Angela Adams was awarded a Selector’s Medal for The Girl Who Waited, and a Commended for The Survivor.  Harry Wentworth was awarded a Highly Commended for Harvest of the Skies.  Roger Evans was awarded a Commended for Leading the Line. Ross McKelvey was awarded a Commended for Out of the Blue.  Lastly,  a special well done to Harry Wentworth who recieved his BPE2* too!

DAPA members enter International FIAP competitions at differing times over different years, this is mainly to comply with FIAP distinction timings and rules.  So, at any one time we could have a group of members attempting to accumulate acceptances or a single solo entry!   This year 4 members entered Southampton and were awarded 17 acceptances, as well as three awards.

Harry Wentworth did wonderfully well in receiving a FIAP Gold Medal (for most creative in competition) for Harvest of the Skies.  Hot on his heels was Ross McKelvey who received a SCC Medal for Seanna, and a SCC Certificate for The Sinner.  Harry’s award was for a digitally projected image and Ross’ for prints.  Well done to all who entered.

Seven DAPA members entered the Midland Counties Federation 48th Annual Exhibition this year… and they’re glad they did!   The Twenty-two  acceptances and five awards have put smiles on many faces: Cherry Larcombe recieved a Highly Commended for Alone.  Harry Wentworth two Commendeds for Harvest of the skies and Love Hate Relationship.  Alan Ranger a Commended for Hartland Fingers and John Powell a Commended for Too Young to Fly.
